Section titled “I Found A Vintage Camera And Tried To Find The Owner”
STRUCTUREDIALOGUEVISUAL HOOK
0–3s • HOOKV.O: The other day I was hiking in the woods when I found a camera. It was very old, but it wasn’t damaged or destroyed…On camera, we see Claw hiking (maybe even using the exoskeleton!) and then kneeling down when something shiny catches his eye… the camera!
3–5s • CONTEXT:V.O: So, I took it home to try and find the owner, but I had no clue how it even worked. We see Claw run back home and sit down at his desk and toy around with the camera, clueless as to how to even open it up.
5–10s • INTO ACTION:V.O: That’s when my father came to help me, and took me to the school’s dark room to develop the photos.Claw’s father appears in the frame, shaking his head, and takes the camera in his hands, nodding to his son to follow him.
Experiment Setup • Progression 1 (5–10s):Claw: Wow, it’s like magic! On camera, we see the dark room, and a montage scene of Claw and his father developing the photos and sharing them with the camera.
V.O: Sadly, many were ruined and blurry, but there were a couple of good ones we could use as clues.
Dad: Looks like a diner…
Progression 2 (roughly 10–20s):V.O: We hopped on the car and drove around town until we found the diner.Father and son get in the car, we see a few shots of the car driving around the streets, with Claw poking his head out and using a pair of binoculars to look around.
Cla: Dad, I think this is it!We get a view of the diner, and Claw holds up to the camera the developed photos, comparing them to the scene right in front of him.
V.O: But the place was clearly abandoned, and we couldn’t even get in.Claw tries to open the door pushing it with all his strength, but it’s clearly impossible.
Progression 3 (roughly 20–33s):V.O: I was devastated. We had spent hours developing the photos for nothing.A sad Claw Quest shakes his head as he holds his forehead.
Claw: Wait a minute…But when he looks to the side, he spots a dusty yearbook.
V.O: That’s when I found an old yearbook…He flips through the pages.
Claw: Hey, that’s the same person, isn’t it?He finds the same face we saw in the diner photos! He directly puts them side to side to compare.
Progression 4 (33–45s):V.O: Now with a name, I hopped on to Facebook to try and locate this mysterious person…Claw is typing into his computer, sitting at his desk with the developed images and the yearbook open.
Claw: They replied! They want to meet us at the abandoned diner! His father stands right next to him, leaning closer to look at the computer as the notifications pop up.
Climax (45/50s) • last progression, results.V.O: My father and I got the pictures and the camera and rushed back to the diner where…We see Claw and his dad arriving at the diner once again, where a mysterious person is standing in the entrance.
Stranger: Hey, I can’t believe you found this! And when they turn around… it’s the person from the photos!
V.O: And I can’t believe I found the owner of the camera! The last clip of the short is a direct side by side comparison of this stranger in the old photo vs now, standing in the same spot in the diner.
