Do Crystals Really Grow Faster Under Moonlight?

Section titled “Do Crystals Really Grow Faster Under Moonlight?”
STRUCTUREDIALOGUEVISUAL HOOK
0–3s • HOOKV.O: People say crystals grow faster under moonlight. So, today, I’m putting this myth to the test…Eye catching time lapse of crystals growing in shape and size, as well as timelapses of the moon moving across the sky.
3–5s • CONTEXT:…because I need a present for my mom before her birthday, right after the last full moon.On camera, we see Claw’s mother and a calendar showing the date and the lunar cycle.
5–10s • INTO ACTION:V.O: First, I went to the store to get all the material I needed, including a lunar calendar.Montage of Claw purchasing the materials (jars, pots, alum salt, wooden spoon, tweezers, fishing or nylon string, clear water, and the calendar).
Experiment Setup • Progression 1 (5–10s):V.O: When I got home, I got my dad to help me prepare two batches of crystals to create my seeds to then grow my crystalsMontage of Claw and his father mixing the crystal solution (dissolving the salt into the water and then transferring it to cool down room temp.)
Dad: Can’t we use a crystal you already have?Add a timelapse to capture how the seed crystals are formed.
Claw: No, we need to grow our own seed or it won’t work.
Progression 2 (roughly 10–20s):V.O: After a couple of days, both batches had seeds, and I got ready to move on with the next step.On camera we see the seed crystal grown.
Claw: God, my hands are shaking! This can’t fail!Using tweezers and a flashlight, Claw will record himself separating the crystals from the solution, tying them to the string, and continuing the process as instructed in the Reddit tutorial.
V.O: I prepared one batch inside the house and the other outside, sitting right where the moonlight can hit it.Once that is complete, we will see him set one jar inside and the other outside, right under bright moonlight.
Progression 3 (roughly 20–33s):V.O: A week later, my indoor crystal was doing great, but the moonlight crystal…On camera, we will see Claw checking the progress of the indoor crystal, and then walking outside to check the outdoor one.
Claw: IT FROZE!But, of course, the jar sitting outside froze due to the temperature!
Progression 4 (33–45s):V.O: I didn’t have much time left before the last full moon, so I rushed home to re-do the batch and, this time, I put it next to a window, instead of outside.Claw checks the calendar (with the last full moon and his mom’s birthday highlighted in red).
Claw: Last chance before mom’s birthday…Timelapse of Claw rushing to re-do the seed crystal, redoing the new jar and letting it sit in a windowsill where the moon shines down on it.
Climax (45/60s) • last progression, results.V.O: And finally, the last full moon arrived, and it was time to reveal the truth…Claw will take both jars and set them one next to the other, lifting off a cloth to reveal what the crystals inside look like with a close shot.
Claw: Alright guys, this is it!His mom will be next to him in the shot, and she’ll react based on the result.
